Governor Josh Stein signed six bills into law today, including measures to modernize state investments, support veteran law enforcement officers, and expand access to social work services. From improving pension investment flexibility to easing licensure for out-of-state social workers, these new laws aim to strengthen public services and workforce capacity across North Carolina.
In recognition of the important public service provided by the state’s probation/parole officers, Governor Roy Cooper has proclaimed July 18-24, 2021, as Probation, Parole and Community Supervision Officers’ Week in North Carolina.
Seventeen state employees with 45 years of public service have been honored with the 2021 Richard Caswell Award. The recipients, who work at seven state agencies, join the distinguished ranks of long-serving employees who have earned the award established in tribute to North Carolina’s first governor.
